Marco Ghilotti, PhD
Postdoctoral Fellow
Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences
Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine
Originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, Dr. Marco G. Ghilotti earned his PhD in Biomedical Sciences with a concentration in Neuroscience from the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University under the mentorship of Dr. Ellen Unterwald. During his doctoral training, his research focused on preclinical models of substance use disorders, with an emphasis on investigating ketamine as a potential therapeutic for methamphetamine use disorder. Using a range of behavioral, molecular, and cellular approaches in rodent models, he examined the effects of methamphetamine exposure and explored the mechanisms through which ketamine may alter addiction-related behaviors and neurobiological adaptations. Currently, Dr. Ghilotti is a postdoctoral fellow at the Behavioral Pharmacology Research Unit, under the mentorship of Dr. Ryan Vandrey. During his fellowship, he will focus exclusively on clinical research to expand his experience in clinical and human laboratory studies.
