Maalson Nyonna is a public health researcher and advocate with roots in Ghana and academic training at Johns Hopkins University, where he earned his Bachelor’s in Public Health and Sociology and Master’s in Environmental Health and Engineering. His primary research explores the intersection of climate change, environmental justice, and African development, but he maintains a keen interest in clinical research—particularly the evolving science of cannabis and its societal impacts. He joined the Cannabis Science Lab in April 2025, and has enjoyed learning about the various aspects of clinical research. With aspirations to pursue a JD in Human Rights Law and a PhD in Sociology, he aims to bridge policy, social justice, and empirical research. Beyond research, he finds balance through community organizing, cooking  various cuisines, and immersing himself in nature (though he’ll never say no to a honeybun à la mode).
