Halle Thomas, PhD
Postdoctoral Fellow
Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences
Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine
Dr. Halle Thomas earned her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Wayne State University (WSU) under the mentorship of Dr. Emily Grekin. She completed her clinical internship in the Addictions Track at Indiana University School of Medicine with primary supervisors, Dr. Zachary Adams and Dr. Allyson Dir. While at WSU, her research focused on two main areas: 1) the development and optimization of accessible, low-intensity interventions for harmful substance use and 2) enhancing the validity of innovative substance use assessment approaches. Her work utilized technology – such as computerized tools and social media – to improve the effectiveness of these strategies, with the ultimate goal of improving treatment outcomes and refining screening measures.
Currently, Dr. Thomas is a postdoctoral fellow at the Behavioral Pharmacology Research Unit and works with Dr. Ryan Vandrey and Dr. Tory Spindle. During her fellowship, she hopes to work on understanding how the evolving landscape of cannabis use impacts usage patterns, attitudes, and perceptions of harm as well as the effects and outcomes related to polysubstance use (e.g., co-administration of cannabis and alcohol).
